Update from the Admiral Neighborhood Association Meeting

FANNA members Ann Limbaugh and Matthew Slye attended the Admiral Neighborhood Association meeting on October 14 to provide the group and attending community members with an update on our progress. The key points they shared:

  • We along with many neighborhood supporters are excited about creating a safe, fun and natural playscape that can be enjoyed by the entire community.
  • FANNA is sponsoring a Block Watch meeting led by officers from the SW Precinct to bring the community together and create neighborhood awareness (more details soon).
  • FANNA is working with the Dept. of Transportation to assess traffic calming along California Ave adjacent to the park. Once we have a new park design, SDOT will mark a new crosswalk along the north side of SW Hill across California.
  • The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is complete and approved by the Dept. of Neighborhoods. This will allow us to begin the search for a Landscape Architect.
  • The RFQ can be posted once we have our contract form the Dept. of Neighborhoods which we expect to have in the next week or so.
  • The Parks Dept. is sponsoring a neighborhood meeting to present a site analysis of the area (CA Place) and facilitate a visioning exercise. More details coming soon on when and where.
